An Ode to the Adventurers Club

Kunglaoosh!

I first visited the Adventurers' Club (AC) in 2004 with a group of friends from the UOG. We were a crazy group and it got me hooked. The crazy adventurers always seemed to find one of us to pick on during every visit (Me, Johnie, Annie, Marion, Slowhand, Joanne, Jonathan etc.)

Pamelia Perkins, the Club President was always good for a chuckle as was Samantha Sterling. Oh and lets not forget Hathaway Browne. He always made the ladies swoon.

One of the few places at Disney that children are not really encouraged to go to, I'm going to miss the AC very much. It was a great adult night out. I think Disney's making a huge mistake.

I'll leave with this little diddy, compliments of the Colonel

Do, with which I buy my beer
Re, the guy I buy beer from
Me, the guy I buy beer for
Fa, the distance to the store
So, I think I'll have a beer
La . . . la, la, la, la, la, la
Ti, no thanks I'll have a beer
Which will bring us back to Do . . .

Celtics! Lakers! NBA Finals!

It's been 21 years since these two storied franchises met in the NBA Finals. I was 8 years old the last time they played, in the '87 finals with the Lakers beating my Celtics in 6 games.

I was taught as a child that there were two evils in the world of sports - the Yankees and the Lakers. Of course I was raised as a Red Sox and Celtics fan so that would explain that :)

Here we are in 2008 and a new crop of Celtics and Lakers took the floor last night, bring life back to this old rivalry. Paul Pierce in the 3rd quarter, after injuring his knee and being carried off the floor by his teammates, came jogging back through the tunnel al la Larry Legend in the 1991 playoffs against the Pacers (Larry of course had slammed his face against the Parquet, but the return was close to the same)

Hearing the roar of the Celtics fans when Piece came back was awesome but really can't compare to that night when Larry came back and took over the game. There was something electric that night, but I gotta say - The Boston Three Party is looking good. Come on boys, bring No. 17 home!

Beat LA! Beat LA!

Recovery

You know, it's the small things I miss. Like taking a shower without having to exert a huge effort. Or carrying my dinner plate to the sink, or carry a purse.

I'm 2 weeks post-op and things are going well I guess. I'm still relying on the painkillers more than I'd like to be, but being casted, I can't ice. Elevation alone doesn't get the job done, although I wish it did.

Today I went to have a cast change and my stitches removed. Ouch! It wasn't awful but man, that was some serious discomfort. Lucky for me, when casting, the fiberglass stuff gets warm and that calmed down the throbbing.

I go back on the 26th for a permanent cast removal, and the back to the walking boot and onto PT. Woo Hoo! We're making progress!

Surgery

Dr. Mills did the tendon repair on Wednesday and everything went well according to him. I'm now hobbling around on crutches remembering how much they suck royally.

The pain isn't too bad, thanks to the painkillers :)

Thanks to everyone for their well-wishes. I appreciate it!

New Kids on the Block

OMG! The New Kids on the Block are coming back. The boys from Boston who stole the hearts of every female classmate I had 20 years ago (was it really that long ago!?!?!? Oh My!) announced that they'll be touring again! And releasing a new album. Wow, this is way cool. I still {heart} Joey :D (Photo: Olaf Heine / AP file)Posted by Picasa

A Wicked Weekend

I had the amazing pleasure of getting to meet Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell, Pippin, Children of Eden, Enchanted and many others) when he was in town for the Lovewell Institute of the Creative Arts' Wickedwell Weekend. Having done both Godspell and Pippin in high school, as well as being a total Disney nut, I've been a huge fan of Stephen's for years.

During a workshop on Saturday, I learned more about the development of a musical than I thought possible. It was a wonderful experience and Stephen was a pleasure to work with.

If you haven't had a chance to see Wicked, I highly recommend the show. The particular cast that is traveling now is amazing, far superior to the one I saw last year (and last year was amazing too!).
